Karen Smerchek

Karen Smerchek grew up in the transportation world with her father who founded Veriha Trucking in 1978.
Since 2005, Smerchek has worked with Veriha Trucking in numerous capacities – serving as president since 2010.
Smerchek holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
She worked in public accounting prior to making the transition back to transportation.
She currently serves as first vice chair for the Truckload Carriers Association.
Under Smerchek’s leadership, Veriha Trucking has embraced training the next generation of truck drivers by opening the Veriha Driving Academy – which is open to all industries that require a CDL.
