TJ Semanchin
In 2005, TJ Semanchin began roasting coffee in an old train depot in Viroqua with Denise Semanchin and Caleb Nicholes.
Between them, coffee was the catalyst to create a company with a two-fold mission of social justice and extreme quality.
Over the years, their roastery has grown to include three cafes in Madison, Bayfield and Viroqua and retail and wholesale customers across the U.S.
In 2015, Wonderstate Coffee became the first coffee roastery in the world to be powered by an on-site solar array.
In 2017, they demonstrated their commitment to the well-being of farmers by instituting one of the highest minimum price guarantees to farmers in the industry, which increases by $0.05 each year and is currently 55% above the Fair Trade Organic minimum.
