STEVENS POINT – Mid-State Technical College and Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) have formalized a shared program agreement for the new AI Data Specialist associate degree.

Mid-State President Shelly Mondeik said the program is a “strategic partnership” that provides students with a direct pathway into advanced manufacturing roles and reflects the college’s broader commitment to expanding applied AI education across industries.

Though the initial focus is on manufacturing applications, Mondeik said Mid-State is preparing to broaden its AI offerings under its new AI Applied framework, which will support future programs in business, health care, public safety, IT and other sectors.

WCTC President Richard Barnhouse said the partnership addresses both immediate workforce needs and long-term industry trends.

“By collaborating on curriculum and delivery, we’re ensuring students gain practical, industry-relevant skills today while creating a foundation that can adapt to emerging technologies and industries tomorrow,” he said.

Mondeik said the AI Data Specialist program emphasizes hands-on learning, industry-informed curriculum and real-world application of AI and data analytics.
