WISCONSIN – Microsoft is bringing its new Discovery platform – an advanced AI tool for accelerating scientific research – to a collaborative initiative with TitletownTech and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Microsoft Executive Vice President Jason Zander said this effort is one of two major collaborations, alongside a parallel initiative with the New Jersey AI Hub and Princeton University.
With early access to the Microsoft Discovery platform as its technical foundation, Zander said researchers will gain the ability to design, simulate and analyze scientific problems with greater precision and at significantly reduced time scales.
Furthermore, he said the collaboration will enable integration across disciplines and support partnership among university researchers, corporate R&D teams and emerging ventures developing next-generation technologies.
“Wisconsin’s spirit of collaboration and innovation is at the heart of this partnership with TitletownTech, UW-Madison and Microsoft,” he said. “By connecting leading industry and academic expertise with Microsoft Discovery, we can accelerate breakthroughs in materials science, manufacturing and life sciences, delivering solutions that matter for the region and beyond.”
TitletownTech Managing Partner Jill Enos said the Green Bay-based venture capital firm will oversee operations and industry engagement, coordinating connections between UW-Madison researchers, Microsoft Discovery experts and corporate partners.
Enos said this approach will create a stronger feedback loop between fundamental research and practical application.
“This collaboration is about shortening the distance between discovery and impact,” she said. “Progress in both science and innovation depends on iteration and feedback, and by connecting UW-Madison’s research excellence with Microsoft’s Discovery platform and our ecosystem of industry partners, we’re creating a model where experimentation and market insight continuously inform one another.”
