SHAWANO – ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano has been named among the 2025 Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
According to its website (chartis.com), Chartis’ annual Top 100 award program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®.
Kellie Diedrick, vice president of critical access hospitals with ThedaCare, said the designation is a testament to ThedaCare’s dedication to providing comprehensive, compassionate and high-quality care.
“We’re grateful to the patients and families who trust us with their health and care every day,” she said. “We’re also proud of our team members who continue to deliver safe and specialized care for each person.”
ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano – which offers nearly 15 specialty services to patients and families, including general surgery, obstetrics, physical therapy, imaging and more – is among eight of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) in the State of Wisconsin.

- Is located 15-35 miles away from the nearest hospital, depending on the local system of highways
- Provides emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
