APPLETON – A new ice cream shop opened in Appleton – just in time to help beat the incoming heat of summer.

Scoop & Roll Good Eats and Treats (N162 Eisenhower Drive in Suite 750) offers customers a variety of confections, including small batch artisan ice cream, rolled ice cream, bubble waffles and a selection of natural plant-based energy drinks, all with an inspired twist.

Inspired by adventure

Owners Jay and Jamie Abitz, self-proclaimed food and travel enthusiasts, said their passion for adventure led them on the journey to business ownership – first in 2016 with Freedom Road Fashion (N162 Eisenhower Drive Suite 800), an area clothing store.

“This was the next step in entrepreneurship,” Jay said.

Soon, Jay said, planning began for a business concept surrounding worldly desserts.

“We wanted to bring some of our favorite eats and treats from our travels to the Valley,” he said.

Scoop & Roll’s location, Jamie said, happened by luck.

“We wanted to be close to our other store, and we were lucky enough to be able to get the spot right next door,” said Jamie.

The Abitzs said they have been working hard to build out the empty space to accommodate their new shop.

“Scoop & Roll is our first venture into food service,” Jamie said. “As foodies ourselves, we have high expectations and have been planning this new business venture for years.”

Endless scoops

Jamie said customers can indulge in a variety of premium ice creams and treats like bubble waffles, smoothie bowls, cupcakes and cake pops.

“You will find premium Bliss Artisan scooped ice cream – the creamiest, highest quality ice cream around with many unique flavors,” she said.

A sampling of flavors on the menu includes Orange Blissicle, S’mores, Zesty Lemon and Key Lime Pie, plus a few more exotic options, such as Maple Bourbon Bacon, Fried Corn and Freckled Malt.

“There are more than 60 flavors, and we will rotate 13 in the case at a time,” Jay said.

Not only are the flavors one-of-a-kind, but Jamie said the ice cream won’t be found anywhere else in the Fox Valley, as it is handcrafted in small batches by Bliss Artisan of Tell City, Indiana, and is brought in fresh to the shop.

These offerings, she said, include an option for rolled ice cream, as well as bubble waffles, homemade waffle cones and Lotus natural plant energy drinks, available with or without added caffeine.

“We have a special recipe for our bubble waffles making them crisp and flavorful,” she said. “Our homemade waffle cones will also give our customers an experience like no other.”

Rolling out success

As customers enter the shop, the Abitzs said they will be greeted by the fresh-baked smell of cones and “exceptional customer service.”

“We are a fun, family environment focused on great customer experiences and treats that make it hard to choose,” Jay said.

Looking forward, Jamie said she is excited for the future and hopes to have even more opportunities to offer the shop’s iconic confections in the years to come.

“We hope business is booming, people are loving our products and we can open one or two (more) locations locally,” she said. “We have many more unique experiences up our sleeve to come. We love our treats and know our customers will, too.”

Scoop & Roll Good Treats and Eats officially opened June 2.

“It should be a different experience in the Valley,” Jay said.
