Saving the local environment – changing lives for the better

WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN – This year, as a result of  Prevail Bank’s free community shred days held at each of its nine branches, 15.5 tons of paper (31,037 pounds) were collected and shredded for a savings of:

• 263 trees
• 31 barrels of oil – enough to run the average car for more than a year (19,530 miles)
• 63,550 kilowatts of energy – the annual power usage of almost eight average-sized homes
• 49.6 cubic yards of landfill
• 930 pounds of pollution

“Sustainability and building a better tomorrow for our customers and the next generation are important to us,” Nathan Quinnell, Prevail Bank president, said. “Working together to pursue what’s possible is what Prevail Bank does best.”

In addition, the bank donated almost $12,000 ($8,892 from Prevail; $2,864.70 from public donations) to nine Wisconsin nonprofits, including:

• United Way of South Wood & Adams County (Wisconsin Rapids)
• W-O-W Kids Meals (Owen-Withee)
• People Helping People (Baraboo)
• Soup or Socks Food Pantry (Marshfield)
• Taylor County Health and Human Services-Suicide Awareness and Prevention Programming (Medford)
• The Community Table (Eau Claire)
• Embrace (Phillips)
• Plover River Crossing Project-Green Circle Trail (Stevens Point)
• Wausau Metro Adult Special Olympics. Prevail Bank donated a dollar for every pound of paper collected, up to $1,000 per location.
