DE PERE – Brehmer Law, LLC recently announced the relocation of its temporary Green Bay office to a new permanent home in downtown De Pere – at 320 Main St., to be exact.

Flanked by Luna Coffee Roasters and the Cupcake Couture in the brick-built Westbridge building, attorneys Matthew Brehmer and Abby Fritze said the new office allows them and their team to grow into another market in Northeast Wisconsin.

Fritze said she joined the Brehmer team earlier this year, when the firm announced the expansion of its estate planning, probate and business services into the Greater Green Bay area.

Now with the permanent location’s renovation underway in downtown De Pere, Matthew said it will be able to provide clients with more convenient access to services.

Fritze said she will be based at the new De Pere location, while Neenah-based Matthew said he will be available to meet in De Pere via appointment.

“I have clients from all over the State of Wisconsin (who) come to see me, so this allows us to not only reach another market, but also to be a little bit more of a convenient space for our clients to meet at,” Matthew said. “Instead of only having to come to Neenah, they can meet Abby in De Pere. I will be up there occasionally as well to meet with clients.”

A lot to offer

Matthew said Brehmer Law offers legal services with a focus on business and tax law and estate planning services, as well as consultations regarding business entity selection, business formation, tax planning, tax audits and tax collection alternatives.

The physical expansion of the law firm’s footprint, he said, means they’re also able to add additional staffing resources, including another attorney for each location.

When he started the firm three and a half years ago, Matthew said his vision for a small, boutique-style practice came to life in downtown Neenah.

Now, he said, the team wants to keep that same warm, inviting feeling for its new space in De Pere.

As Matthew said, when dealing with complicated tax matters or going through the work of estate planning – which can also be deeply emotional – it’s important clients feel at ease.

Which is why he said he wanted to ensure a better experience, not just for his employees but also the team’s clients.

“A lot of them have never seen an attorney before, and to come into a cold space and feel uncomfortable… I always felt like it took a while for them to warm up to me,” he said. “Where now… setting the office up to be smaller, to be more of a warm feeling when they come in and they feel at home, it definitely makes it an easier transition into having that difficult conversation.”

Made sense

Matthew said the transition to De Pere is a natural one for the team.

Fritze, he said, is a lifelong Green Bay resident, attended St. Norbert College and has always spoken highly of the downtown De Pere area.

“I have a lot of referral partners (who) have talked about what a great area that would be to expand into,” he said. “And then when we went and visited downtown De Pere, we fell in love with it. It’s just a lot like downtown Neenah, where (our other office is) located. We love to be part of the community, and we got that feeling right away when we were downtown De Pere – like we want to be part of this community.”

Having enjoyed the business community in downtown Neenah, Matthew said he and his team members are looking forward to continuing to support his Neenah business neighbors and now De Pere as well.
“We’re huge supporters of all of our neighbors in downtown Neenah – we get to know everybody down there,” he said. “We’re looking forward to getting to know everybody in downtown De Pere.”

Every time a member of the Brehmer team visits De Pere, Matthew said, “we check out a new place.”

“We’re looking forward to supporting downtown De Pere and also helping more people and clients in that area and helping them with their estate planning and business needs,” he said.

Renovations for the De Pere location kicked off in early May, and according to his contractors, Matthew said they expect to be open sometime after the Fourth of July holiday.

Materials that had been delayed are now in and have been delivered, so he said the hope is they will be able to stick to the timeline.

Any future construction updates for clients, Matthew said, can be found on Brehmer Law’s social media platforms.

Unexpected journey

Matthew said for him, the expansion is a defining moment for his career, not just as an attorney but as an entrepreneur as well.

“When I had the idea… about going off on my own, I never thought I’d be an entrepreneur ever in my life,” he said. “I thought I’d just be helping entrepreneurs set up their businesses and protecting themselves – I didn’t expect to be my own entrepreneur. But when I had this idea, this plan to help better the experience for my clients and better the experience for my employees – the plan was always to open up another office and more offices in the future. It is really exciting to finally have that come to fruition after three years.”

And much like downtown Neenah has provided a welcoming home for Brehmer Law, Matthew said he hopes De Pere and its vibrant downtown will also become an incubator for further success.

“As soon as we saw the space down there, we thought, ‘This is it…,’” he said. “I can’t believe how we found this perfect space so quickly. We were super excited off the bat, and the landlords have been great to work with. And I think they’re very excited for us to be down there, too. We’re really looking forward to getting going in here.”
