FOND DU LAC – SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac has completed the first phase of a $15 million expansion of its cancer care facility in Fond du Lac.

According to the announcement, the first phase increased treatment capacity from six to 20 semi-private bays and from four to six private bays.

SSM Health Fond du Lac Market president Shane Smith said the project also added pharmacy space four times larger than the previous facility, allowing for increased chemotherapy preparation and a new parking lot that doubles available spaces.

Smith said the facility also includes a new entrance and canopy, healing garden and landscaping designed to provide additional patient privacy.

More natural light, he said, was incorporated into the expanded space as well.

Smith said the expansion is intended to accommodate growth in medical oncology, hematology and radiation oncology services.

The Phase 1 completion milestone, he said, reflects SSM Health’s commitment to patients and families in Fond du Lac and the surrounding area.

“Completing Phase 1 of this expansion helps ensure that people facing cancer can receive the highest quality care, close to home, in a setting designed around their needs,” he said. “It also reinforces our promise to continue investing in services that support the health and well-being of our communities.”

Smith said the second phase will renovate existing exam rooms, increasing the total from 11 to 20, and add a new registration area and waiting room.

He said the final phase will include a wig boutique, massage and acupuncture space.

Smith said the project is expected to be completed in summer 2027.

CD Smith Construction is the general contractor, with Zimmerman Architectural Group serving as project designer.
