Aspiro completes renovation of its Green Bay campus

GREEN BAY – Aspiro has completed a $21 million renovation project at its Green Bay campus, marking the largest transformation in the nonprofit’s nearly 70-year history.

Aspiro President Ryan Ruzziconi said the project – which is part of Aspiro’s Beyond Expectations capital campaign – modernized the organization’s Dousman Street facility with new classrooms, an art studio, music room, teaching kitchen, gymnasium, dementia-friendly suite and updated nursing space.

Building systems, including roofing, plumbing, electrical and HVAC, Ruzziconi said, also were upgraded.

Rick Chernick, chair of the Beyond Expectations capital campaign, said Aspiro is more than a program.

“It’s a safe place to grow, belong and simply be who you are,” he said. “This building represents the best of our community.”

Founded in 1957, Ruzziconi said Aspiro now serves more than 1,600 individuals with disabilities and their families each year through programs designed to support independence, connection and inclusion.

The renovation, he said, was completed with support from Somerville Architects & Engineers and Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction.

“This is more than a building,” Ruzziconi said. “It is a statement: That every individual deserves the opportunity to ‘Live Their Way.’”
