Port of Green Bay earns 17th Pacesetter Award

GREEN BAY – The Port of Green Bay received its 17th Robert J. Lewis Pacesetter Award after international cargo shipments through the St. Lawrence Seaway increased 145% during the 2025 season.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corp. presented the award to Green Bay as one of nine U.S. Great Lakes ports recognized for significant growth in international cargo.

Per the announcement, the nine ports collectively moved more than 4 million metric tons of international freight in 2025, accounting for 27% of all international cargo moving through the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway System.

Port Director Dean Haen said the growth reflects international business conducted by KK Integrated Logistics and U.S. Venture, as well as the efforts of those supporting port operations.

“We’re honored to receive this national recognition and proud to represent Northeast Wisconsin among the Great Lakes ports being recognized,” he said.

As the westernmost port on Lake Michigan, Haen said the Port of Green Bay provides a link between Midwest businesses and international markets and supports the movement of commodities throughout the region.

“The Port of Green Bay continues to build on its reputation as a reliable and efficient gateway for commerce,” he said. “We’re focused on ensuring the port continues to meet the needs of today’s supply chain while creating opportunities for future growth.”
