NORTH CENTRAL WISCONSIN – County Materials Corporation has become the newest partner supporting Mid-State Technical College’s Wayne H. Bushman Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, and Apprenticeship (AMETA™) Center.
Per the college, the company’s $200,000 donation secures lifetime naming rights for one of the center’s classrooms.
Rebecca Sonnentag, executive vice president of marketing and communications for County Materials, said the Marathon City-headquartered company manufactures concrete construction products that support essential infrastructure, including bridges, stormwater management systems, parking lots and structures, warehouses and retail complexes.
Sonnentag said the company employs nearly 2,000 people and offers career opportunities in various areas, such as concrete manufacturing, finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, operations, risk management, sales and transportation.
“At County Materials’ family of companies, we know firsthand how transformative hands-on technical education can be, and we’re proud to play a role in expanding access by supporting the AMETA Center,” she said.
Sonnentag said the AMETA Center represents innovation, collaboration and a shared vision for success in manufacturing.
“We’re excited to be part of a movement that will positively impact lives, businesses and the region for years to come,” she said.
Sonnentag said the County Materials team views the collaboration as “both personal and purposeful.”
“We see it as an investment in people – a way to foster growth, learning and success that will multiply throughout our organization and the wider community,” she said.
Dr. Shelly Mondeik, president of Mid-State Technical College, said the center has fostered many strong partnerships between Mid-State and local employers, all working together to expand opportunities for students and strengthen the regional workforce.
“This gift is another example of the kind of collaboration we are so proud to celebrate,” she said.
