WAUSAU – Kolbe Windows & Doors recently introduced LuxWall’s advanced vacuum insulating glass (VIG) solutions into select product lines, which President Jeff De Lonay said marks a significant advancement in high-performance, energy-efficient window and door technology.
De Lonay said this launch underscores Kolbe’s ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainable building solutions.
“Innovative and adaptable solutions like the VIG from LuxWall reflect Kolbe’s ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance and design,” he said. “Our partnership with LuxWall empowers architects and builders to meet energy goals while maintaining aesthetic and functional flexibility.”
Unlike standard insulated glass units that use air, argon or krypton, De Lonay said VIG features a small, virtually airless vacuum space between two panes of glass.
This construction, he said, creates improved thermal insulation, making it well suited for comfort-enhancing, energy-efficient upgrades in both new construction and replacement applications, including historic restoration projects, single- and multi-family residential developments and commercial settings where additional constraints and standards may need to be met.
Kolbe now offers two high-performance VIG products from LuxWall:
- Enthermal™ – A dual-pane tempered glass system with a vacuum space and one Low-E coating.
- Enthermal Plus™ – A triple-pane system with two Low-E coatings, a vacuum space and added customization capabilities.
John Budzynski, product certification manager at Kolbe, said extensive testing and verification processes have shown that Enthermal and Enthermal Plus are capable of addressing essential window and door performance needs today.
“Energy codes are evolving,” he said. “Building trends are changing. Renovation goals are transforming. With novel, consistent and flexible options like Enthermal and Enthermal Plus, Kolbe is more prepared than ever to ensure our customers can design, build and live with the future in focus.”
