WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Mid-State Technical College (Mid-State) – in collaboration with Marshfield Fire and Rescue and the Marshfield Police Department – is offering a new Public Safety Exploration Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 25 on the Marshfield campus.

Organizers said the camp is designed for students entering grades six through 12.

Camp attendees will learn first-hand what it is like to work in public safety through hands-on activities.

“I am happy Mid-State provides us with the opportunity to participate in this awesome program,” Jody Geurink, Marshfield Police Department chief, said. “Many kids have a strong interest in public safety. Events like Public Safety Exploration Camp help to keep that fire fueled, and hopefully helps to build a strong workforce in public service for the future.”

The camp fee is $45 and includes lunch. Scholarships are available to cover camp costs.
