SHEBOYGAN – When The Business News featured 3Elephants & Company in its Dec. 30, 2024, issue, Co-owner Jackee Kaiser said a move for the handmade goods store was imminent.

“We definitely didn’t have enough space,” she said of the now-former location at 1503 N. 8th St. in Sheboygan.

That premonition came true earlier this year, Kaiser said, when 3Elephants moved into a new uptown Sheboygan storefront at 539 S. Taylor Drive – increasing its space “from 300 to 3,000 square feet.”

The store, she said, continues to feature a wide selection of handmade items from Wisconsin-based vendors, with an estimated 90% of the inventory crafted in Sheboygan.

“With the extra space we have, we are able to accommodate so much more [inventory], so then we are able to have more variety of items for the public to see,” she said.

Kaiser said the additional space allowed 3Elephants to go from stocking 45 vendors to more than 70.
“We have all of our vendors from before,” she said. “[We carry] dog treats all the way to essential oil products that are actually made in Waldo.”

Kaiser said the store is also able to feature larger items than before, such as planters, stools and wood-carved flags.

The new location, she said, also makes it possible to offer in-house laser engraving for products – “not necessarily even what you buy in the store.”

“You can bring in jewelry if you find a piece elsewhere,” she said. “We can engrave on jewelry and all sorts of different [items].”

Now nestled between Planet Fitness and Dollar Tree, Kaiser said 3Elephants also has far more parking availability and gains considerable foot traffic.

Customers entering the store, Kaiser said, have been enjoying its more spacious aisles and layout.

“People can get around, and they’re not bumping into things,” she said. “We can display things a lot better.”

Among the new, large display features for this season, Kaiser said, are two Christmas trees full of handmade ornaments for sale.

Kaiser said the move has also allowed 3Elephants to host events – something she’d hoped to do since opening the previous location.

“We have constant events happening every weekend,” she said. “There are always fun things to do.”

Among the events hosted thus far, Kaiser said, have been classes for painting wooden welcome signs and making candles.

For the upcoming season, she said, “[when] winter hits, you get the winter blues and you need something to do,” 3Elephants’ events include classes for making Christmas ornaments, an ugly sweater contest for kids and a “wives and wine” gathering where attendees can paint their own wine glass.

Kaiser said the expanded space has also allowed for expanded hours of operation.

“We’re open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday [now],” she said.

Though Kaiser said 3Elephants is well settled into its new location, her search for interesting inventory is ongoing.

“We’re always looking for new and unique things from around Wisconsin,” she said. “Anybody who is interested in displaying their products can always contact me.”

Kaiser said she encourages customers, both loyal and new, to visit 3Elephants – “where creativity needs community.”

“There are so many beautiful items – people are so talented – and they’re missing out on so much if they don’t come and check it out,” she said. “And if you’re going to come check it out, you need to come in and spend an hour, because there’s so much to see and so much unique stuff to engross yourself in.”
