SHEBOYGAN – Acuity has announced the total donations of its 2024 philanthropic efforts was $500,000 among six different charitable organizations: Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation; Fresh Meals on Wheels; Mental Health America (MHA); Safe Harbor; The Salvation Army; and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Based on employee votes, MHA Lakeshore received the largest allocation of more than $170,000, with the other five groups each receiving donations ranging from nearly $45,000 to more than $90,000.
“MHA has been a lifeline to me and my family in so many ways,” MHA Lakeshore Board Member Mark Kesler, who lost a son to suicide, said. “They’ve helped us with our grief, they’ve helped us better understand mental illness, and they’ve helped us see that mental illness is no different than any other illness… Suicide is preventable, and with MHA leading the way through resources and education to end the stigma around mental health, one day we will be successful. With Acuity’s generous support, we’re on our way. Acuity’s contributions are helping MHA provide hope, change lives, and help shine a light in the darkest of moments – showing people that it’s okay to not be okay.”
Each Acuity employee, the announcement said, was also invited to choose any qualifying charity to receive a $100 donation – equaling an additional contribution of nearly $180,000 – marking the 12th consecutive year Acuity employees have directed a year-end contribution.
Pat Prigge, social worker and volunteer coordinator at Sheboygan County Health and Human Services (HHS), said Acuity’s seasonal gift drive also collected hundreds of items for HHS, representing the largest donation of much-needed items the organization received in 2024.
“Acuity represents the largest donation we receive every year,” Prigge said. “Their donation puts many smiles on many faces, which brings tears of joy and happiness.”
