FOX CITIES – The Fox Cities Chamber recently led a delegation of business and civic leaders to Charleston, South Carolina, as part of its ongoing effort to strengthen regional economic development and long-term growth.
Chamber President and CEO Becky Bartoszek said the Leadership Exchange and Benchmarking Tour brought together public, private and nonprofit leaders to study how other regions align strategies around economic development, workforce and quality-of-place investments.
Bartoszek said Charleston was selected as a peer community for its success in diversifying its economy, while maintaining a strong regional identity.
Participants, she said, examined topics including tourism, infrastructure, downtown development and long-term planning.
Bartoszek said the exchange helps local leaders better understand how successful regions collaborate and plan for the future.
“Strong regional economies don’t happen by accident,” she said. “They are built through intentional collaboration, long-term planning and continued investment in people and place. That’s why this leadership exchange is vital for the Fox Cities.”
Bartoszek said the visit also highlighted the importance of regional alignment and clear messaging to attract employers, residents and investment.
Attendees, she said, are continuing discussions locally to identify strategies and next steps for the Fox Cities.
Bartoszek said the chamber plans to continue the initiative, with the next Leadership Exchange scheduled for Huntsville, Alabama, in February 2027.
