Verns Cheese under new ownership after 59 years

WAUPUN – Nonprofit REACH Waupun is the recipient of $3,000 from SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac to support its “Get Active!” youth program.
DeAnn Thurmer, SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital/SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital president, said the funding will be used by Get Active! to provide financial assistance to students within the Waupun Area School District or Central Wisconsin Christian School to pay for fees related to a wide range of sports, clubs or extracurricular activities.
“Studies show sports play a critical role in a young person’s lifelong journey toward an active and healthy lifestyle,” she said. “Youth who engage in sports grow up more physically active, and also gain mental and social health benefits that follow them into adulthood.”
Students can receive up to $250 a year in assistance from REACH Waupun, which has provided programming for area youth and families since 2015.
