NEENAH – ThedaCare has completed a new 2,200-square-foot Simulation Lab in Neenah to support its Graduate Medical Education (GME) program and enhance clinical training for future physicians and care teams.
Chris Stenberg – vice president of graduate medical education and clinical research for ThedaCare – said the facility includes three simulation rooms equipped with advanced medical technology, a debriefing space and a centralized control center designed to replicate real inpatient clinical environments.
Stenberg said the lab will be used for hands-on training across a range of healthcare disciplines.
“The completion of our Simulation Lab represents another significant investment in the future of health care in our communities through our Graduate Medical Education Program,” he said. “By creating a shared, immersive learning environment, we are equipping our residents and teams with the skills, confidence and collaboration needed to deliver exceptional care to every patient, every time.”
Stenberg said the lab will support its Internal Medicine Residency program, which received accreditation in September 2025 and will welcome its first residents July 1, 2026.
The space, he said, was also recently used to train about 70 nurse externs.
Stenberg said the statewide physician shortage was a key driver for expanding training programs, noting that residency programs often increase the likelihood of physicians remaining in the communities where they train.
He said the project was supported by more than $4 million in philanthropic contributions through ThedaCare Foundation-Neenah.
