UA Local 400 donates $25,000 to establish scholarships at Lakeshore

CLEVELAND – Lakeshore College Foundation recently received a donation of $25,000 from the Plumbers & Steamfitters UA Local 400 union to establish a scholarship fund that will provide financial assistance to students interested in training for careers in welding or heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

Lakeshore College President Paul Carlsen said the new scholarship fund will help make it easier for more individuals to pursue careers in welding and HVAC.

“We appreciate the ongoing commitment the Plumbers & Steamfitters UA Local 400 union has to workforce development,” he said.

Carlsen said students enrolled in the college’s HVAC installation, welding fabrication and industrial welding programs – all of which are delivered through Lakeshore’s competency-based education format – can apply for scholarships.
