APPLETON – Valley Transit is expanding the role of the VT Connector – its on-demand micro-transit service – during non-peak hours in response to ongoing operational challenges.
Starting July 15, Valley Transit will shift from fixed-route buses to the VT Connector after 6 p.m. weekdays and after 1 p.m. Saturdays.
Ron McDonald, general manager of Valley Transit, said the on-demand service will become the primary mode of public transportation during these non-peak times.
“We understand this decision impacts many of our valued riders,” he said. “Though it was not an easy choice, it is a necessary step to ensure we continue providing safe and reliable transportation within the Fox Cities.”
The VT Connector service requires passengers to schedule their rides at least two hours in advance.
All one-way trips on the VT Connector will cost $2, a fare separate from the fixed-route bus fares.
