TOMAH – The Tomah Health Foundation members presented a $1,000 check to Tomah Police Department’s K-9 program.
This is the second year the foundation has supported the program.
“We think in the long run, it can benefit our community,” Foundation President Brian Eirschele said of the donation.
Tomah Police Sgt. and K-9 Handler Adam Perkins said the foundation’s donations have been vital to the K-9 program, as it runs off donations from the community.
K-9 Viktor has been with the Tomah Police Dept. for seven years, and Perkins said he has made a difference in keeping the community safe.
“We have hundreds of arrests based on his actions,” he said.
Plans are underway to replace Viktor next year with a new dog, after which Perkins said Viktor will retire at home with him.
“He’s been a great dog for our department,” he said.
