TOMAH – Staff at Tomah Health have donated $5,077.50 to Tomah Area Cancer Support, Inc. (TACS) as a result of the 2024 Tomah Health Jeans & Scrubs for Charity program.

“Donations received truly are wonderful as we can offer assistance to patients who are going through such a difficult time in our area,” TACS President Dawn Pfaff said of the donation.

Pfaff said TACS has received increased requests in the community as they have on average, 35 people each month reaching out for support.

The funds TACS receives through donations and aluminum can donations, she said, help to provide assistance for transportation for cancer treatments with gas cards, medically related expenses, lodging for patients and other expenses deemed necessary by the group.

Pfaff said the most frequent request is gas gift cards for patients to travel to frequent appointments, whether they travel to Tomah Health or other communities for their care.

Hospital Human Resources Generalist Samantha Wolff said for a small donation, hospital staff can participate in the program by wearing jeans or scrubs on Fridays throughout the year.

“Our staff’s generosity in donating their jeans day funds to this local charity is a testament to the power of community and compassion,” Wolff said. “It shows that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

Hospital staff voted to donate to the Tomah Area Cancer Support Group last year, she said.

Funds from the 2025 Jeans & Scrubs program, Wolff said, will be split between the St. Clare Health Mission of Monroe Country and the local Lend a Hand Program.
