EAU CLAIRE – Instead of sacking opposing quarterbacks and tackling running backs, Gilbert “The Gravedigger” Brown – a former Green Bay Packers nose tackle – took time out of his schedule to help welcome a local law firm’s new office to the Eau Claire community.
Brown – who played for the Packers from 1993 to 2003 – was on hand last month to officially help cut the ribbon on Pemberton Personal Injury Law Firm’s third office in Wisconsin.
Owner/CEO Will Pemberton said the Eau Claire office joins others in Baraboo and Madison.
“Expanding into Eau Claire is deeply personal for me,” he said. “This community has given me so much over the years, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back in a meaningful way. We’re here to stand up for those who’ve been injured through no fault of their own – to fight for what’s fair and to make sure they feel seen, heard and supported, every step of the way. I’m proud to bring our team’s passion and commitment to justice to a place that already feels like home.”
Cori Beesing, Pemberton’s marketing director, said the firm began operations in 2006, with the Baraboo office first in line, followed shortly after by the Madison location.
“Basically, Will was getting calls from the [Eau Claire] area from people who needed an attorney,” she said. “Simply put – there was enough traction there for him to open an office, just to make it more accessible for clients of Pemberton. This way, they’ll be able to visit that office and visit the attorney there. This new office will allow Pemberton to break into that community.”
Beesing said the office space – located at 221 W. Madison St., Suite 104 – “is very special to us.”

“It’s got a great location, there is a big parking lot with a lot of parking spaces, there is a lobby and different meeting rooms,” she said.
Though the firm now has three locations statewide, Beesing said that doesn’t mean Pemberton is done expanding.
“We recently had a conversation about that,” she said. “We’re taking a look at where we would be of most assistance to those who have been injured and are in need of an attorney. We’re certainly looking at other locations but not sure exactly where we’ll expand to next. Most likely, that should be coming by the end of this year.”
More on the law firm
According to Pemberton’s website (pembertonpi.com), “the firm’s lawyers fight for fair compensation after an injury disrupts our clients’ lives.”
This includes payouts for injury-related losses and pain and suffering caused by the negligence of others.
It serves clients statewide with a long list of injury claim types, such as car accidents, wrongful deaths, slip and falls, dog bites, pedestrian accidents, construction accidents and more.
The website also states Pemberton bills no fees unless it wins a client’s case.
“Unfortunately, people fall or get injured through no fault of their own,” Beesing said. “There’s probably always going to be a need wherever [Pemberton] wants to set up. It’s kind of a weird industry that way because you never want anybody to get injured. We just want to be here for people to call and trust if they need us.”
Beesing said Will – who graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2001 and Marquette University Law School in 2003 – used to be a part of another firm, and after finding some success, he decided to go off on his own.

“Will is a good Christian man,” she said. “He loves exuding those values, not only in work but also in the community. He’s super passionate about giving back, which makes my job super fun.”
A recent case in point, she said, occurred when Pemberton offered Uber Safe Rides Home for Wisconsin residents on the Fourth of July.
“There was no sign-up necessary for the safe ride home,” Beesing said. “All you had to do was click a link and you got your $25 voucher. I like to brag on that one a little bit because you could tell there was no ulterior motive – it was simply a free ride home to keep people safe. I think some people might have thought it was too good to be true and there must have been a catch, but there wasn’t.”
Crediting his humble upbringing and strong foundational guidance from his mother, Beesing said it’s always been important to Will to give back.
“[His mother and upbringing] definitely sparked his interest [in giving back],” she said. “Once he became a successful businessman, giving back to those in need, especially in his local areas, was important to him. Any chance he gets, he makes sure to do that.”
Another current example, Beesing said, is the firm’s plan for a backpack giveaway.
“We’ll be giving away 500 backpacks to students in need, and later this year, we’ll be doing a winter coat project for kids who can’t afford them, or families who can’t afford to buy them,” she said. “Will is a big family guy and happy to give back when he can.”
