MENASHA – Gold Cross Ambulance Service – in collaboration with public health departments across Winnebago County, Outagamie County, Calumet County, Waupaca County, the City of Menasha and the City of Appleton – has deployed a Leave-Behind Narcan Kit Program.

Andrew Olson, operations manager at Gold Cross Ambulance, said the collaborative effort will equip all Gold Cross ambulances with a supply of kits containing naloxone (Narcan) and fentanyl test strips that first responders can leave behind at the scene of an overdose or with individuals at high risk and their families.

Olson said the program bridges the gap between emergency response and public health.

“Our crews are often the first point of contact during an overdose crisis,” he said. “Now, they’ll be able to provide immediate tools that can prevent the next one.”
