APPLETON – Lawrence University celebrated the official opening of its newly completed Pre-Health Commons at 10 East College Ave. in Appleton with a ribbon-cutting ceremony late last month.
Lawrence University President Laurie A. Carter said the opening of the Pre-Health Commons marks the completion of the third phase of Fox Commons, a 180,000-square-foot, mixed-use community hub in downtown Appleton that includes health care, housing, academic and retail spaces.
Carter said Lawrence University has partnered with Mosaic Family Health and Prevea Health – both housed within Fox Commons – to provide students with valuable training, mentorships and workplace learning opportunities.
A highlight of the commons, she said, is a state-of-the-art test kitchen, where students explore the connection between nutrition, diet and medicine – equipped with high-resolution cameras, a presentation screen and workspaces.
Carter said students enrolled in health-related programs benefit from a “wrap-around” experience – living in adjacent apartments while accessing academic resources within the Pre-Health Commons.
Additional amenities include a rooftop garden and patio, group study rooms, student lounges and a “mind spa” designed to support mental well-being.
