Shiocton School District breaks ground on $23.5 million facility improvements

SHIOCTON – Construction is now underway on the School District of Shiocton’s multi-year, $23.5 million facilities improvement plan, following an official groundbreaking held last month.

Superintendent Garrett Zimmerman said the project – funded by a referendum approved by voters earlier this year – includes upgrades in four key areas: safety and security, infrastructure, career and technical education (CTE) and facility accessibility.

Projects, Zimmerman said, include the construction of secured main offices for both the elementary and high schools, a renovated and expanded Tech Ed Center, an addition to the fine arts wing, remodeled middle and high school locker rooms and a range of infrastructure updates, replacements and site improvements. 

“Our facilities should match the excellence of the teaching and learning that happens inside them,” he said. “With these updates, we are ensuring that our students are prepared for tomorrow’s challenges in an environment designed for 21st-century learning.”

The district is partnering with Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc. on all phases of the projects, including planning, design and construction management.

Construction is scheduled for completion before the 2027-28 school year, with most interior work planned for the summers of 2026 and 2027 to minimize disruption to students and staff.
