Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital earns Acute Stroke Ready Certification

TOMAHAWK – Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Acute Stroke Ready Certification, confirming the hospital meets national standards for providing rapid, evidence-based stroke care.

Ken Grubbs – executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer for The Joint Commission – said hospitals are evaluated on their stroke program management, clinical processes and performance improvement efforts through direct observation and staff interviews.

“Joint Commission congratulates Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital for achieving accreditation by demonstrating its focus on delivering safe and effective care,” he said.

Aspirus Nursing Supervisor Sarah Guzinski Sherman said the certification reflects the hospital’s commitment to improving stroke response and ensuring patients receive appropriate treatment quickly.

“This achievement is the result of teamwork, continuous learning, and a shared passion for delivering exceptional stroke care,” she said.

Donny Abraham – chief administrative officer for Aspirus Health’s North Division – said this milestone underscores the team’s “relentless dedication to delivering timely, evidence-based stroke care.”

“We remain committed to advancing stroke education and fostering a culture of excellence across our communities,” he said.
