Kintop Repair celebrates first anniversary at Weston location

WESTON – Wausau-area’s Kintop Repair recently marked its first anniversary at its Weston location – something primary Owner/President Christopher Kintop said is more about the company’s growth than a single celebration.

Beginning operations in 2022 out of his neighbor’s garage, Christopher, 26, said his father, Todd, has been a big help in the endeavor – using his 36 years of expertise in the forklift material handling industry.

“Past business decisions [where we used to work] led to Chris opening up his own location and growing it to the point where it is today,” Todd, who is also the CEO of the company, said. “He asked me to come back, and then in 2024, we took on two minority partners – Marshall Mullenix and Tom Lehman – who have worked for me over the last 20 years.”

Todd said bringing both Tom and Marshall on board was a huge part of accelerating Kintop’s growth. 

He said the company wouldn’t be where it is today without them, along with all of the hard work and effort from everyone involved.

“It’s also important to mention that Tom decided to come on board because of what he saw in Christopher and the potential he believed he had to build something special,” Todd said. “That says a lot about the confidence he had in Christopher, what we were building and why he came aboard and invested in Kintop Repair.” 

Located at 5606 Municipal St., Christopher said the growth Kintop has seen has been due to hard work and diversifying its services.

In addition to Weston, he said the company also serves the Freedom area and will soon be in Hancock, Michigan – near Houghton on the Keweenaw Peninsula in the Upper Peninsula (U.P.).

“We’re working on the Hancock location for this fall,” he said. “We expect more growth, so I would say maybe our next market would be the Madison area. I’m hoping that will be in place by 2030.”

As a full-service forklift and material handling partner for Wisconsin and the U.P., Christopher said Kintop provides repair, parts, sales and rentals for forklifts, aerial lifts, floor scrubbers, loading docks, dock levelers and fleet vehicles.

“I would say our dealings in forklifts are our bread and butter,” he said. “Material handling is our main focus, followed by commercial vehicle repair.”

Christopher said the company also helps warehouses run smarter with optimization services, layout and design, racking, safety products and pedestrian awareness programs.

He said Kintop’s lithium battery solutions and fleet management programs deliver strong ROI, longer run times and lower maintenance costs.

“I think more companies trust Kintop Repair for several reasons: reliable service, better uptime and measurable results,” he said.

With more momentum and growth coming its way, Christopher said the company will be looking to expand its workforce.

“We have anywhere from 12-15 employees combined across our locations,” he said. “Hiring quality workers is definitely a challenge.”
