RHINELANDER – Helping other businesses succeed is the goal for Northwoods entrepreneur Nicole Brand, and it served as inspiration for the launch of North Bound Media Management – a company designed to elevate and promote local enterprises.
Brand said her new business aims to help others enhance their online and social media presence.
“Everyone needs different services,” she said. “So, I offer everything from basic static posts up to full-blown management where you don’t have to worry about anything.”
Services, Brand said, could encompass creating and managing social media profiles – Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc. – engaging with followers, producing content and coordinating email campaigns.
She said she can either establish the social media platforms for a business and hand them off, or continue managing them – offering flexibility depending on the services a business wants.
“When working with small businesses, they want to do their business, they want to do the work they’re passionate about, so they can hire me to do the work I’m passionate about, which is promoting them in whatever their endeavor is,” she said. “I started North Bound because I’ve seen too many incredible small businesses stay hidden simply because they didn’t have the right tools or visibility online.”
Brand said pricing for her services is based on each client’s needs, with contracts customized to help them achieve their specific objectives.
How it started
A native of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Brand said though she is a first-time entrepreneur, owning her own business has always been a dream.
“I honestly wanted to become a business owner from the beginning of adulthood, I would say,” she said.
Brand said she began writing business plans at age 18 or 19, and over the years has drafted several ideas, ranging from tea and coffee shops to children’s play centers.
“[North Bound Media Management] is the one where I saw this huge need, particularly in the Northwoods of Wisconsin,” she said.
Brand said she moved to Rhinelander nine years ago for work and has a background in the financial industry, specifically banking.
Most recently, she said she served as the director of marketing at a local credit union.

In that role, Brand said, she was able to network with many local businesses and became involved with the chamber of commerce.
“One of the things that I noticed is that so many people didn’t have a social media presence or it was very, very limited,” she said. “That’s something that I just loved doing at my prior job.”
Brand said that recognition ultimately led her to start North Bound Media Management, fulfilling her long-held goal of becoming a business owner.
“I’m at an opportunity in my life, financially and spiritually, to be able to take this leap of faith and see what happens,” she said.
Brand said her past marketing experience helped prepare her for this new role.
She said she also strengthened her skill set by completing an online course to earn her Facebook client attraction certification.
“That really makes me a Facebook expert,” she said.
A look toward the future
Brand, a mother of two young girls, said it feels “really special” to build something of her own and show her daughters what it looks like to be a businesswoman.
“I am very passionate about women supporting women,” she said. “So, being able to start this project from the ground up, be successful and have such support from the women in the Northwoods… has just been a really special thing, so I’m really excited about that.”
Though she only opened a handful of weeks ago, Brand said word about her business spread quickly.
Within a month of launching – and shortly after North Bound Media Management’s Facebook page went live – Brand said she had already signed four clients.
The momentum carried forward, she said, as the Rhinelander Area Chamber Ambassadors marked the launch of her business with a ribbon cutting in mid-November.
Brand said that though her website is technically live, her workload has delayed its completion until 2026.
In the meantime, she said information about North Bound Media Management’s services and contact information is available on the business’s Facebook page.
