BROWN COUNTY – The Brown County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution that outlines funds for how the opioid settlement – known as The Opioid Action Plan – will be allocated.
The plan – which was formed in collaboration between the county’s Health and Human Services Department and the Sheriff’s Office – features a four-pronged approach that focuses on areas of prevention, treatment, recovery and enforcement.
Board Chair Patrick Buckley said the funds will be invested over a 10-year period, which will include hiring a clinical professional with disciplines in mental health treatment and addiction, disbursing a grant for local non-hospital detox services and offering sober living support and case management for 10-12 new clients.
Buckley said the proposal will be reviewed annually.
“These funds provide Brown County a unique opportunity to explore new approaches to address this serious issue and help save the lives of family members, friends and neighbors,” he said.
