APPLETON – Goodwill of North Central Wisconsin, Rawhide Youth Services and Fox Valley Technical College recently recognized more than 30 students who were among the first to complete the Career EXCELerate Wisconsin program.

The comprehensive career-training program launched last summer after receiving a Wisconsin Workforce Innovation Grant.

It’s offered at no cost to individuals who want to launch a lasting career but are struggling and would benefit from individualized support to enter or return to the workforce.

The event celebrated students who completed training in one of several in-demand career pathways, including nursing assistant, early childhood teacher’s aide, professional truck driving, welding fundamentals and woodworking technician.

Thanks to Career EXCELerate, Korie Hansen completed her early childhood teacher aide certificate to launch her career.

Hansen said she hopes to one day become a 4K teacher.

“It has given me the confidence to know I can go back to school and do well,” she said. “It’s given me a refresher on a lot of vital skills. Confidence is a big one – knowing I’ve got the support has been amazing.”
