NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – 1939 Group, Inc. has officially closed its previously announced acquisition of Festival Foods and Hometown Grocers, expanding its total store count to 164.
By joining forces, Todd Schnuck – chairman and CEO of 1939 Group, Inc., the new holding company – said the family-owned companies are poised to accelerate growth and set a new standard for what it means to be a regional grocer.
Schnuck said Festival Foods, Hometown Grocers and Schnucks will continue operating under their existing banners.
The acquisition brings approximately 8,000 new employees into the 1939 Group family, a move Schnuck described as both a milestone and a responsibility.
“As we celebrate today’s milestone, we also recognize that our teams are entering the busiest
season of the year,” he said. “Our top priority remains clear – keeping Festival Foods, Hometown Grocers and Schnucks teammates focused on serving and delighting our guests.”
