OSHKOSH – GO Transit, the public transportation service in the Greater Oshkosh area, in partnership with the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD), recently announced the extension of its revenue agreement allowing all OASD students to ride fare-free.

GO Transit is introducing a new student pass program designed to ensure the safety and security of all bus riders.

Effective Sept. 1, all OASD students in grades 6-12 will be required to have a GO Transit student ID card for the 2023-24 school year.

K-5 students may continue to ride fare-free without an ID.

For this program, no other forms of student ID will be accepted.

“By requiring students to carry the GO Transit student ID card, we can better track and enforce our ridership policy,” Steven Tomasik, GO Transit operations manager, said. “This is not about creating barriers – it’s about ensuring every person who boards our buses can ride safely and comfortably.”

To secure a pass, Tomasik said students must complete the 2023-24 school bus pass form online at oshkoshtransit.com or in person at the downtown office located at 110 Pearl Ave.

If a student is under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the form.

Once the form is filled out, students will need to visit one of GO Transit’s two offices to collect their free passes.

Their information will be verified using the student list provided by the district.

A photo will be taken for the pass, which will then be printed immediately.
