GREEN BAY — Earlier this month, Gov. Tony Evers visited Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) to gain insight into the college’s health science program and engage in discussions regarding the pivotal role technical training plays in meeting healthcare workforce demands.
NWTC is the largest producer of nursing graduates within the Wisconsin Technical College system.
NWTC’s President Kristen Raney said the college is at the forefront of innovative training practices and excellence in education.
Leading the tour was Raney, NWTC’s Dean of Health Sciences, Scott Anderson and NWTC nursing student Austin Beth.
Evers’ tour focused on areas of surgical technology, ultrasound/radiology and extended reality training in healthcare.
The recently established Governor’s Task Force on the Healthcare Workforce addresses various challenges within the state’s healthcare system — which includes recruitment and retention, improving patient care, developing sustainable workforce solutions and more.
