GREEN BAY – Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB) is receiving a $2 million federal grant to purchase two new pieces of airfield snow removal equipment.
GRB Airport Director Marty Piette this is one of 320 grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s Airport Improvement Program.
Piette said keeping the airport’s runways open and safe is always a priority, and having reliable equipment to keep the snow off the runways is a part of that.
With the grant, he said GRB will purchase two multi‐functional airfield snow removal trucks from M‐B companies of Chilton with delivery expected in September 2025.
Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach said having the snow removal trucks will allow GRB airport crews to do their job more efficiently and effectively so planes can keep flying year‐round.
GRB is the third largest airport in the state – serving Northeast Wisconsin and portions of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, is a partner of the Green Bay Packers and is one of only two commercial airports in Wisconsin designated as a Landing Rights Airport by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection for international flight arrivals.
