NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – If you don’t change with the times, you get left behind.
That can be said with my start at The Business News (TBN) last August.
Before accepting my new role as a staff writer with TBN, the previous six years were spent as a sports editor at another local paper.
When I accepted the new job last summer, I wasn’t sure how different it would be switching from writing sports stories to ones about the Northeast Wisconsin business community.
Nine months later, I’m happy to report I love my new job and the people I work with.
Ironically, I’ve written plenty of sports-related business stories with TBN, and it seems I’ve become the local brewery expert – despite not being much of a beer drinker.
Combining my willingness to travel to different locations within our 12-county reach and my passion for doing something fun while at the same time highlighting new businesses, I’ll be starting a new feature in every issue called “Just dropping by.”
And as the name suggests, it’ll be just that – I’ll pop into a business for a quick conversation about what they do, where they’ve come from and what the future looks like.
I’ll snap some pics, shoot a little video for TBN’s YouTube channel and get a little interactive – so get your creative thinking caps on and help me out.
Wondering how I decided where I’m going to “drop by?”
Because we serve 12 counties – Brown, Calumet, Door, Kewaunee, Outagamie, Fond du Lac, Oconto, Manitowoc, Marinette, Shawano, Sheboygan and Winnebago – I plan to rotate where I travel.
Better yet, if you, the reader, have a suggestion about a business I should drop by, give me a holler to my email box (rich@thebusinessnews.com).
Until next time – thanks for reading!
