BayCare Orthopedics & Sports Medicine consolidates services in Green Bay area
GREEN BAY – BayCare Orthopedics & Sports Medicine has officially consolidated all its services into its new facility at the new Horizon Square building, located at 1110 Kepler Drive in the I-43 Business Center on Green Bay’s east side.
All providers have moved to this location and are, therefore, no longer seeing patients at Aurora BayCare Medical Center (1160 Kepler Drive) and Aurora BayCare Health Center (2253 W. Mason St.) in Green Bay, or at 2353 S. Ridge Road in Ashwaubenon.
Fifty-two exam rooms were constructed at the new facility, as well as conference rooms specifically designed for pre-surgical education classes, three new X-ray suites and a rooftop track open to the public.
Rennes Group announces facility in Peshtigo
PESHTIGO – Rennes Group is constructing a new community-based residential care facility (CBRF) within its existing campus at Rennes Health & Rehab Center-Peshtigo East, 701 Willow St. in Peshtigo.
The new Residence by Rennes, Assisted Living & Memory Care, which will serve up to 29 individuals, is expected to open in late spring, which aligns with the 30th anniversary of Rennes Health & Rehab Center-Peshtigo East.
Cami Olson, current director of rehab at Rennes Health & Rehab Center-Peshtigo East, has been named the community director.
This is the second CBRF for the Rennes Group – the first is located at Rennes’ De Pere campus.
The health and rehab center will still offer on-site rehabilitation and skilled-care services at the Peshtigo East location.
Rennes Group marks its 50th anniversary in 2023 and currently provides assisted living, memory care, rehabilitative services and skilled nursing throughout Northeast and Northcentral Wisconsin.
Bellin opens Marinette Walk-in Orthopedics Clinic
MARINETTE – Following a successful trial clinic last summer, Bellin Health Marinette (2820 Roosevelt Road) has opened a Walk-in Orthopedics Clinic, which offers free initial consultations by a licensed athletic trainer who can assess injuries and make recommendations.
Clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and individuals do not have to be Bellin patients to be seen.
Phil Schaible, director of orthopedics and sports medicine for Bellin Health, said the Marinette clinic uses the same business model used at Bellin Health Titletown since it opened in Ashwaubenon in 2017.
“We have a tremendously successful model on which to build, and we know this will make a difference for the individuals we serve,” he said. “We are excited to offer this service in our Northern Region, allowing patients and community members to get in, get evaluated and get back to doing what they love more quickly.”

New therapy for managing diabetic peripheral neuropathy
GREEN BAY – Aurora BayCare physicians – Christopher Howson and Ryan Clark with BayCare Clinic Pain & Rehab Medicine in Green Bay – are offering a new treatment for diabetic neuropathy called spinal cord stimulation.
Approved last January by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Intellis and Vanta spinal cord stimulation implant systems are manufactured by Medtronic.
“These minimally invasive devices are implanted under the skin in an area near the spine to help treat chronic leg and foot pain related to painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy, a debilitating and progressive neurological disorder that affects many diabetics,” Howson said.
Clark said the implants use a neurostimulator to deliver mild electrical impulses over thin wires called “leads” that modify pain signals before they reach the brain where pain is sensed.
Clark said the implants disrupt the pain signals between the brain and the spinal cord.
“They are an important alternative therapy for managing leg and foot pain caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy for patients who haven’t found relief,” he said.
Howson said the implant systems can be beneficial for those seeking “an effective alternative to prescription opiates.”
“It presents a new hope for patients to find relief and new opportunities for pain specialists to make a difference in more people’s lives,” he said.
Registration opens for ‘Bellin 5K Heart-Run Walk’ in Marinette
MARINETTE – Bellin Health Marinette will host its second annual “Bellin 5K Heart Run/Walk” at 8 a.m. April 29 at Bellin Health Marinette, 2820 Roosevelt Road.
A Children’s Run – which is a one-eighth-mile run for ages 5 and younger and a quarter-mile run for ages 6-10 – as well as the companion one-mile Community Walk will also be held.
All participants receive a commemorative T-shirt and finisher medal.
Registration prices start at $20 for adults and $12.50 for the Children’s Run.
Individuals must register by April 14 to guarantee their preferred T-shirt size.
Scholarships offered to students in SSM Health service area
FOND DU LAC – High school seniors in the Fond du Lac area who plan to pursue a career in healthcare are invited to apply for scholarships offered by several SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac organizations.
Four $2,000 scholarships will be awarded by the SSM Volunteer Board to eligible students who reside in the SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac service area and plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in preparation for a healthcare career, as well as a $1,000 scholarship to someone pursuing an associate’s degree.
Applications are due March 10.
The SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Auxiliary is offering three $1,000 scholarships to eligible students who attend Green Lake, Markesan, Princeton or Ripon school districts. Applications must be postmarked by March 10.
The medical staff at the Ripon hospital are offering three $2,000 scholarships to eligible students attending Green Lake, Markesan, Princeton or Ripon high schools who are interested in pursuing a healthcare career.
Individuals who have already graduated from those schools may also apply.
Applications must be postmarked by March 15.
Waupun Memorial Hospital Volunteer Services is offering $1,000 scholarships to students in the hospital’s service area who are entering (or continuing) an accredited Bachelor of Science program in any human health medical field.
