GREEN BAY – Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI) – supported by The Metallica All Within my Hands Foundation – is once again partnering with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) donating $50,000 to college students with qualifying financial need.

Students will receive up to $1,000 in scholarships toward programs in high-demand sectors of manufacturing, health care, human services, construction, IT and transportation.

NWTC President Kristen Raney said being named a Metallica Scholar is a testament to a shared commitment to building a thriving workforce in those career fields.

James Hetfield, Metallica’s lead vocalist and guitarist, said when the Metallica Scholars Initiative launched, its collective goal was to make known how vital trade skills are to society, and more importantly, support many folks who are trying to create a career by learning and using these skills.

This year, MSI is awarding its largest grant to date with $2.6 million committed to 60 colleges across the country.

With 18 new colleges joining the roster this year, MSI now has a presence across all 50 United States and the territory of Guam.

Metallica Scholars are often considered non-traditional students as many have families they support or are the first in their families to pursue a college education.
