GREEN BAY – Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach, along with Brown County Health and Human Services Executive Director Jeremy Kral and several Brown County Supervisors formally presented On Broadway, Inc. a check for $23,066 to support its Fresh Food Drive project.
The project will provide support to local homeless shelters in acquiring and using locally-sourced fresh produce from the Farmers’ Market on Broadway using a voucher system.
“We’re grateful to Brown County for recognizing a unique opportunity to support our local growers who in turn are providing fresh, quality products for those in need,” Brian Johnson, executive director of On Broadway, Inc., said. “The Farmers’ Market on Broadway fills an important role to bring fresh foods to a USDA designated food desert and this grant will continue to alleviate pressures on those who struggle to afford healthy and nutritious foods.”
The grant award is part of $1 million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, which aid in the relief to community organizations recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Broadway, Inc. is one of 19 projects awarded funds.
