Waupun Memorial Hospital earns CMS 5-Star Rating

WAUPUN – SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital has earned a 5-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), placing it among the nation’s top-performing hospitals.

According to CMS’s website – cms.gov – the organization awards star ratings based on performance measures including mortality, safety, readmissions, patient experience and the timeliness and effectiveness of care.

DeAnn Thurmer – president of SSM Health St. Clare Hospital-Baraboo, SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital and SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital – said earning a CMS 5-Star Quality Rating is a “tremendous honor” and a reflection of the dedication team members bring to their work every day.

“From the moment a patient walks through our doors, our focus is on delivering safe, compassionate, high-quality care close to home,” she said.

According to CMS, 384 hospitals nationwide received a 5-star rating in 2026.
