MANITOWOC – Three local entrepreneurs showcased their business ideas at Progress Lakeshore’s LEVEL UP Pitch Contest, held last month at the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center in Manitowoc.
The competition, which is designed to foster entrepreneurial spirit and support emerging businesses, featured pitches from a variety of startups.
Quentin Wood emerged as the winner of the contest, securing a $1,000 prize for his business concept, Bodhi Bow Wow.
Wood’s winning pitch centered around his vision for building a stronger dog community through personalized dog training.
With expertise in behavior modification plans, Wood has already contributed to the training of 60 dogs and played a role in training 17 service dogs.
Bodhi Bow Wow offers comprehensive training programs, dog grooming and dog walking services.
Taking the second-place spot was Mikala and Joey DeBone, who received a $500 prize for their pitch on Little Sips Play Cafe.
Little Sips Play Cafe aims to create a safe and engaging play space for children aged 0-6 years old.
The DeBones envision offering party packages, space rentals for events and a haven for children to play, providing parents with a relaxing environment and coffee.
Additionally, Katrina and Barry Buechner claimed the third-place prize of $250 with their business idea, Mosaic, a Christian community center.
The contestants faced a panel of judges who evaluated their pitches based on six criteria: the addressed problem and market for the solution, unique value proposition, growth strategy, team, economic feasibility and presentation quality.
