CHIPPEWA FALLS – Amy Gamerdinger Jeffers – known to many as Dr. Amy – said she learned about chiropractic care at a young age.

Growing up, Gamerdinger Jeffers said she watched her mother undergo treatment for scoliosis, which sparked her interest in the field.

Later, while on her college dance team, Gamerdinger Jeffers said she experienced firsthand the relief chiropractic care could provide after an injury.

“I was doing a leap and had a pain shoot up my back,” she said. “Every time I would jump, I could feel sharp pains in my back. My mom suggested that I come back for the weekend, and she got me in to see the chiropractor we had seen as a family. After getting adjusted, all of my pain went away.”

Even as a child, Gamerdinger Jeffers said she knew she wanted to go into medicine, having always been interested in biology and how the body functions.

But it wasn’t until she experienced pain relief through chiropractic care as a college dancer, she said, that everything clicked – and that was the moment she knew this was the path she wanted to pursue.

“I want to help other people,” she said. “I especially love working with dancers and being able to help [other] people back into their sports,” she said.

Strong foundation

Gamerdinger Jeffers earned her doctorate at Northwestern Health Sciences University, as well as additional certifications in pediatrics, perinatal and the Webster technique.

She is also certified as a doula and a Childbirth Educator Mentor through Birthing From Within.

Gamerdinger Jeffers said she is also trained in Spinning Babies© techniques, craniosacral therapy and physiotherapy and is certified as a BirthFit™ leader.

“While I was in chiropractic school, I found out that there were so many things that [chiropractors] could help with that I didn’t even know when I started school,” she said. “We can work with the jaw for TMJ issues. We can work with wrists, shoulders, elbows, knees, feet, pain – so many different things. And the one that I got interested in was pediatric care after seeing all of the different aspects that we could help with infant care.”

With infants, Gamerdinger Jeffers said the focus differs from typical adult pain management cases.

“I work with anything from ear infections, asthma, allergies, sinus issues, breathing problems [and] sleep [issues],” she said. “With infants, we see a lot of lip and tongue issues. I do cranial sacral for that. We’re doing stretching in the mouth and helping to allow them to latch better or even feed better with bottles.”

Constipation, Gamerdinger Jeffers said, can be a big issue for infants and kids that chiropractic care could help with.

“Adjusting the back to be able to get those nerves to function better, a lot of times, can help regulate their digestive system,” she said.

Gamerdinger Jeffers said her experience as a certified pediatric chiropractic doctor eventually expanded to working with pregnant women, where she discovered she could help with everything from easing pain to supporting smoother deliveries.

After facing challenges with the birth of her first child, she said supporting others through birth and postpartum has become deeply meaningful to her.

“It’s not easy for a lot of people,” she said. “It’s a lot to balance – all kinds of different things.”

Drawing on her diverse passions and expertise, Gamerdinger Jeffers said she decided to start her own practice, aiming to create “a wellness atmosphere and a full clinic [that goes] beyond just chiropractic care.”

Though many chiropractors often begin their careers as associates, Gamerdinger Jeffers said she started her own practice in Lake Wissota in 2008, partly due to a shortage of available clinics to join.

Building on her vision, she said she relocated her practice to downtown Chippewa Falls six years ago, seeking a larger space to integrate fitness services alongside chiropractic care, recognizing fitness as a key part of holistic wellness.

Gamerdinger Jeffers said her current space, with a newly renovated reception area, includes a fitness, dance and yoga studio in addition to treatment rooms.

Along with chiropractic care, Gamerdinger Jeffers said Lake Wissota Family Chiropractic and Wellness Collective also offers several other complementary therapies, including massage, reiki, cranial sacral, dry needling, doula services, as well as yoga, belly dancing, nutritional counseling and physiotherapy.

She said she also refers patients to specialized healthcare providers when needed.

“Other countries have pelvic floor physical therapists that are automatically part of their care plan,” she said. “In the United States, a lot of times people have to get referrals for that or they have to ask for it. We partner with all kinds of different resources. I work with pediatric dentists, lactation consultants and pelvic floor physical therapists to help support my patients, along with what I’m doing as well. We work as a team to help support people.”

Gamerdinger Jeffers said she has always focused on identifying the needs of both her patients and the community.

Meeting those needs, she said, has been key to the growth and evolution of her practice.

“When I started my practice, I didn’t really have a great mentor to help me get started,” she said. “So, I have always had a passion for helping others, especially women business owners.”

Gamerdinger Jeffers said she embraced a collaborative approach to wellness that continues to guide how she shapes and grows her practice.

“That’s been something that has really been rewarding and important to me – to be there to help other people,” she said.
