EAU CLAIRE – The RCU Foundation made a $400,000 gift to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (UWEC) Foundation to support the development of Simpson Field.

Julia Diggins, vice president and chief development officer of the foundation, said this contribution will help fund the renovation of the field, which will now feature bleachers and a press box.

“This gift played a significant role in making Phase II of the Simpson Field project a reality,” Diggins said. “Now with bleachers and a press box, we are able to host more events on campus, enhancing the experience of all students at UWEC.”

RCU Foundation President John Sackett said the foundation is “honored to support this field renovation and expansion.”

“(It) will ensure that community members in Eau Claire and beyond will have a place to gather for generations to come,” he said.

Diggins said the upgrades to Simpson Field expand access to the facility for use by student-athletes in a variety of sports and better prepares the field to host the men’s soccer NCAA Tournament regional for the first time on Nov. 15-16, 2025.
