DE PERE – After being located on S. Van Buren Street, next to Bellin Hospital, for many years, Urology Associates of Green Bay has found a new home.
Though Urology Associates only officially began operations at 1385 W. Main Ave. in De Pere earlier this spring, Practice Manager Jackie Carter said the building – formerly the location of Zyquest, an IT company – was bought in 2022.
“Originally, we were going to make it a surgery center and an office, but it’s so expensive to do that – you’re kind of gambling,” she said. “The plans were already written up (to include both a surgery center and an office), but those plans changed about 18 months ago. It was then decided we would just focus on a clinic.”
Carter said the 13,500-square-foot space is double the square footage of the old location near Astor Park.
“We have a new doctor coming in September, and we have hired a few mid-levels over the past six months,” she said. “Also, the need for urology is so high, and the specialty is so short on urologists. We figured our best way to see more people and get them treated – there’s quite a waiting list – was to find a new space.”

Furthermore, Carter said the new space allows for additional providers and staff, increased patient capacity and better accessibility.
“When we announced we were moving, all the patients asked, ‘Will there be enough parking?’” she laughed. “The old location had limited parking, and it was fairly tight. We expanded the parking lot, so there is plenty of room (at the new clinic). We are actively working on finishing up the landscaping, and the parking lot will be completely paved by mid-June.”
Carter said the inside of the building was “totally gutted and remodeled,” with Keller Inc. serving as the design/build contractor.
“It was entirely gutted except for the exterior walls,” she said. “There was one room in the interior of the building – our mechanical room – that was left because it had cement walls. Everything (else) was taken out.”
Before remodeling the space, Carter said there were only two bathrooms.
“Workers had to trench into the floors for all the plumbing, all the rooms, bathrooms and everything,” she said. “It’s been completely redone – it’s beautiful.”
Though the entire building had to be gutted and remodeled, Carter said the project took less than a year to complete, with Keller only beginning renovations June 1 of last year.
“Keller has been great to work with,” she said. “They absolutely know what they are doing – this isn’t their first rodeo.”
So far, Carter said the new location and space have gotten “rave reviews.”
“Patients are extremely happy with everything,” she said. “They like the fact there are no stairs and no elevators. Things are very convenient for this population of patients. It’s also completely wheelchair accessible, which we didn’t always have in our previous office. Overall, they love the parking and love the building.”

Additionally, Carter said Urology Associates has a clinic in Marinette and a surgery center in Oconto.
“The surgery center is a Bellin surgery center, and with the clinic (in Marinette), that’s so we can accommodate Marinette and Upper Peninsula of Michigan patients,” she said.
Physician-owned
According to Carter, Urology Associates treats problems/conditions associated with the urinary tract, dealing with cancer, the prostate and kidneys, male GU, pediatrics and more.
Urology Associates, she said, is physician-owned by Sean McAdams, Herbert (Joe) Wiser and Hamayun Mian, all MDs.
“Dr. Mian started Urology Associates in 2004,” she said. “I think we still have six of our original employees from 2004. We started with six to 10 people, and now we’re up to about 45.”
McAdams said Urology Associates’ mission is to put patients first.
“Our job is to take care of patients – that’s our primary goal,” he said. “We have a big impact on people’s lives, and a lot of times when people come to us, they’re scared and might be facing a challenging diagnosis or have a condition that is really impacting their quality of life, where they can’t do the things they want to do.”
Wiser said Urology Associates tries to be on the cutting edge with technology.
“We want to make sure patients don’t have to go elsewhere, so we provide true, modern, up-to-date care,” he said.
According to its website (uroassocgb.com), Urology Associates specializes in advanced prostate cancer, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), men’s health and overactive bladder.
