BELLEVUE – Capital Credit Union hosted an official ribbon-cutting ceremony late last month to celebrate the grand opening of the financial institution’s 24th branch, located at 1920 Landmark Boulevard (across the street from Costco) – a project The Business News first shared in its April 21 issue.
In that story, Senior Vice President of Branch Operations Danielle Kroening said the Northeast Wisconsin regional banking organization identified Bellevue as an area where a new branch could “really make a difference.”
“Ultimately, our vision is to inspire financial well-being through access, care and collaboration,” she said. “So, this provides another option for us to do that for current members and new members. We’re providing another access point for them at this location in that robust traffic area that’s growing every day.”
In addition to providing another access point, President/CEO Laurie Butz said the credit union’s newest “branch is actually a test” location – set up in a way that serves the new and ever-evolving needs of its customers.
“We only have two teller stations, compared to years past, where you would have six to seven,” she said. “That really reflects that it’s not transactional – it’s problem solving, it’s financial planning, it’s coaching and mentoring; it’s getting [the] expertise of a financial individual who can give you options.”
Across the 18 counties Capital Credit Union serves across Northeast Wisconsin, Butz said “54% of [its] membership never steps foot in a branch.”
“But the reality is, branches are still a vital part of serving our members, because big life decisions have big financial implications, and when those life-changing dreams and scary moments come to life – like house purchases – we want to be able to serve them face to face, in a branch,” she said.
The face-to-face component, Butz said, can be done with a member of the on-site staff, or virtually, with any number of the financial experts employed by Capital Credit Union – thanks to the branch’s new design.
“We have virtual stations where if someone walks in and wants a service – like from our capital investments group, our mortgage lending group, our business services group – they can sit down at a virtual desk and access that team member,” she said.
Butz said the new virtual access station “is critically important” for Capital Credit Union “to be testing and navigating” as its members move toward having different banking needs.
“We have been watching member behavior,” she said. “So, we will continue to have a branch network, [but] we’re excited that this one is our new design thanks to our EUA team… [and] Miron Construction.”
In addition to the project’s construction and design partners, Butz said she and Capital Credit Union are also thankful for the support of its community partners – including the Village of Bellevue and the Greater Green Bay Chamber of Commerce, especially in regard to the credit union’s ribbon cutting.
“To have this new branch design showcased for the first time in a community that is growing so much – it’s really a testament to the partnerships [and] the collective efforts to have financial well-being for all through access, care and collaboration,” she said.
