KOHLER – A new era is underway for The Blind Horse Restaurant & Winery in Kohler.

Owners Bob and Connie Moeller said the establishment – located at 6018 Superior Ave. – is reinventing its guest experience with enhanced offerings, headlined by a new, two-story, all-seasons terrace bar.

The couple said the addition creates more space and places to sip, sample and socialize.

“This is a destination within a destination,” Bob said. “The new, 540-square-foot building seamlessly connects the principal tasting room with terrace spaces.”

Now that construction is done and The Blind Horse is entering its busiest season, Bob said they can enjoy the fruits of their labor.

“We had two different builds going on at the same time – the one in Cedarburg and then the new addition to our winery in Kohler with a new kitchen, etc.,” he said. “About a month ago on a weekend, we served more than 500 people between the patio and restaurant. Each day, we had about 150 people on the patio enjoying live entertainment and more than 100 folks in the restaurant.”

The Blind Horse’s expansion into Cedarburg – The Blind Horse Cellar – first appeared in the Oct. 20, 2025 issue of The Business News – a move the couple said has been “extremely well received.”

“The people of Cedarburg really love the whole concept we have there of the wine cellar with small plates and live music on the patio,” Connie said.

Bob said the opening of The Blind Horse Cellar and the expansion in Kohler allow them to host more local guests and travelers as they enjoy Blind Horse wine in a wide variety of social settings.

Enhanced offerings

In celebration of the 2026 terrace season, Connie said The Blind Horse debuted a renewed winery vision highlighted by new branding, elevated interiors, a chef-curated menu and a reformatted wine club.

“Where do we start?” Connie laughed. “We realized that on the patio, the little bar we originally had wasn’t servicing our needs enough. Because of that, we wanted to add another kitchen in the new terrace bar so we could have some great food offerings for lunches and early evenings.”

For the new terrace bar, Bob said they utilized the help of Distinctive Design Studio out of Sheboygan Falls.

“They designed the two-story building where we have a kitchen and a 16-seat bar below and a catwalk from the winery going up to the second floor,” he said. “It is surrounded by glass, and we can open up all the doors to the open air and to the band shelter.”

Connie said the outside of the new building almost looks like a silo because a barn originally sat there before it had to be torn down for their wine production area.

“The barn had a silo, so we’re keeping in touch with the heritage of the place and the legacy it has,” she said. “It has a spiral staircase going up through what we call the silo.”

Connie said the project added 40 seats on the upper deck terrace area to enhance The Blind Horse’s entertainment business.

The new terrace bar, she said, inadvertently led to updates in The Blind Horse’s wine-tasting room, including new light fixtures, tables and chairs.

“We have banquet seating with chandeliers and curated artwork throughout the place in Kohler,” she said. “We are big into art and have a lot of nice pieces in both locations.”

If the first month-plus is any indication, the couple said the general public is “so thankful” for the enhancements and additions.

“It’s going very well,” Bob said. “We wanted to do something for the community and also have a great place to eat, drink and meet friends. So far, we couldn’t ask for anything more.”
