WESTON – Woodstock Flooring & Design Center recently hosted a ribbon cutting at its new location along Schofield Avenue in Weston.
The third Woodstock Flooring & Design Center, the Weston location joins locations in Birnamwood and Green Bay.
The move into the Wausau area, Kyle VanOrder, accounts manager at Woodstock Flooring, said, came because “the company wanted to bring the same great products and service to the Greater Wausau area.”
“Simply put, we wanted to serve new customers in a new market,” he said. “We are growing, and we felt not everybody wants to drive to Birnamwood. We have customers from Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Stevens Point and Abbotsford.”
VanOrder said before the Weston location (5408 Westfair St., Suite 1) opened, all those customers had to travel to Birnamwood.
“We wanted to branch out a bit more and make ourselves more accessible to those customers, while still servicing our normal area,” he said. “Our new showroom has been a labor of love. We are extremely excited to bring our talented, professional team closer to the Wausau area.”
VanOrder said discussions around opening a new location in Weston “go back several years.”
“Our warehouse space is all located in Birnamwood, and that’s where all of our shipping and receiving happens,” he said. “The Weston location is like our showcase area – where we display some of the latest and greatest products.”
The expansive Weston showroom, VanOrder said, allows for products to be showcased in “a very unique way.”
“We’re showing full kitchens, walk-in showers – all of those things in this 5,000-square-foot space,” he said. “It’s not just having a bunch of carpet and tile samples – it’s way more than that.”

VanOrder said the new building was finished in fall 2024 and opened to the public Jan. 1.
“We’re just finishing up some of our installations and decor,” he said.
Tile, carpet, wood flooring – oh my!
VanOrder said Woodstock Flooring – which opened in 2004 – specializes in wood flooring, carpet, tile, vinyl and laminate flooring, as well as cabinetry and countertops, including granite, quartz and laminate.
Handling job-site measuring, design consultations, estimates and installation, VanOrder said Woodstock Flooring’s detailed services include:

- Residential installation

Growth over the years
VanOrder said he has been with Woodstock Flooring for almost 18 years, and in that time, the company has shown “tremendous growth.”
“When I first started, Woodstock Flooring was only involved in hardwood distribution, selling to contractors, etc., because we were actually manufacturing the hardwood,” he said. “There were only three of us there, so it’s definitely grown into a much bigger business. We do all types of flooring and projects. Now we’re doing walk-in showers, cabinetry, countertops, etc. It’s a whole different animal compared to when I started.”
VanOrder said Woodstock Flooring isn’t afraid to take on different ideas/projects, either.
“We’ve tried different strategies in the past with different products, and some of those didn’t end up working out the best, and others did,” he said. “We try to innovate as much as possible – we love new technology and try to stay up to date with the industry as much as possible.”

VanOrder said Woodstock Flooring got its start in October 2004 in Birnamwood by the Kersten family – which also runs Kersten Lumber Company.
According to the company’s website (kerstenlumberco.com), Roy Kersten established a sawmill in Wittenberg in 1938.
Years later, it would eventually serve as the foundation that started Woodstock Flooring, VanOrder said.
“Woodstock Flooring was basically started because they wanted a storefront for the hardwood flooring they were manufacturing,” he said.
Now, VanOrder said, Woodstock Flooring “basically does everything from start to finish.”
“In our expansive showrooms, you are sure to find a fit for your home,” he said. “Woodstock’s knowledgeable staff does it all from job-site measuring, design consultations, estimates and installation.”
VanOrder said Woodstock Flooring also works closely with commercial and residential contractors.
Future growth?
VanOrder said there is “always room for expansion” – if the situation is right and the need is there.
“We have had talks about different directions we would go,” he said. “Maybe that’s possibly going up into the northern areas of the state, closer to Minocqua, etc. Those are just talks, though – nothing is planned or anything.”
