BROWN COUNTY – Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach, along with area leaders, officially opened the H.J. DeBaker Eagles Nest Park and Boat Launch located at 3265 Nicolet Drive in Green Bay.
“It took some time, but the vision of this beautiful park and boat launch has finally been realized,” Streckenbach said. “All the credit for getting this project complete goes to Matt Kriese and the Brown County Parks team. They stayed positive throughout this nearly five-year odyssey and were able to focus on this amazing outcome.”
Brown County purchased the former Eagles Nest Supper Club site in August 2020.
Previously owned by the DeBaker family, this park will provide sunsets while enabling boaters and anglers to have improved access to the lower bay of Green Bay.
This harbor can be used as safety during storm events, and several boats can temporarily moor during inclement weather.
The Eagles Nest features four launch lanes, 71 boat trailer parking stalls and 19 single-vehicle spots.
A small boat wash area is also available for quickly rinsing boats to take care of invasive species.
No swimming is allowed at this site, but the accessible walkways onto the jetty and breakwater provide good views.
The Total cost of the project was $4.1 million, with no local property tax dollars used.
Funding came from a combination of federal and state funds, grant money, donations from the Nelson Family Fund and other private entities and proceeds from boat launch passes.
