GREEN BAY – A $49,979.50 grant recently awarded to the HSHS Wisconsin Clinical Research Institute by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation will help HSHS St. Vincent Children’s Hospital provide more patients access to pediatric cancer clinical trials, Catherine Long – a Prevea Health pediatric hematologist-oncologist at HSHS St. Vincent Children’s Hospital – said.

“Clinical trials can help us better understand new ways to treat, diagnose and prevent childhood cancer,” Long said. “They also help us find new ways to manage the symptoms of cancer and cancer treatments.”

The grant comes as HSHS St. Vincent Children’s Hospital marked 40 years of offering clinical trials to children with cancer, she said.

“Thank you to our partners and families for trusting us for 40 years,” Long said. “Together, we’re helping to shape the future of cancer treatment right here in Northeast Wisconsin.”
